Megan Leavey and her troubled past:

Megan is a young woman living in New York, filled with dissatisfaction with her family life and a sense of disorientation. To escape her troubles, she joins the United States Marine Corps, hoping to find a purpose in life.

While serving at a military base, Megan is assigned to care for and train combat dogs. There, she meets Rex, a Belgian Malinois who is notoriously difficult to control. Initially, Megan feels nervous and confused, but gradually, she and Rex develop a deep bond.

Megan and Rex were deployed to Iraq, where they were tasked with detecting bombs and protecting their teammates from attacks. They participated in over 100 dangerous missions, facing danger every day. Their relationship was not only that of teammates but also that of friends who shared hardships and joys.

During one mission, Megan and Rex were seriously injured by a bomb explosion. Megan was sent back to the US for treatment and rehabilitation, but Rex was assigned to another soldier to continue his mission.

After being discharged from the military, Megan couldn’t stop thinking about Rex. She learned that Rex had PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and was at risk of being retired early or even put on the death row. Determined not to lose her loyal friend, Megan started a campaign to adopt Rex and give him a peaceful life with her.

Finally, after much effort and support from the community, Megan was able to bring Rex home. The film ends with Megan and Rex living happily together, celebrating the eternal friendship between humans and animals.
